Biography

Born in Guinea-Bissau in 1978, lived in Paris, Macau, Porto, Germany and returned to Porto in 2012. Master in Film and Television Directing by ESAP in 2016. In 2021, she presents: “Mikambaru” at DocLisboa for the session “Cinema for an anti-racist struggle”, participates in the “Meeting(s) – Women in Decolonization – Ways of Seeing and Knowing” – Hangar Artistic Research Center and Aljube Museum , “O Fio do Casulo” – Espectro Visivel Project (in partnership with Ivo Reis) – International Film Festival of Córdoba – Argentina. – “The Invisible Side of Water” – Project for the international exhibition “The European Humanities R&D Exhibition” by FCT and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Shewas DOP for the film “Mudança” by Welket Bungué, selected for the Berlinale 2021. Created the video installation “Stand Here” at Hangar – Lisbon Art Research Center for the 8°Triangle Network in 2019 and participates in the collective exhibition “Unearthing Memories” at RAMPA – Porto with the Interstruct collective. She directed short films such as “Tradition and imagination”, “Mikambaru”, “Si destinu”, “Fiji”, “Cura”, “MadMudPool” and the series for RTPLAb “Matemática Salteada”. She is invited to international debates and conferences, “Afroeuropeans Studies Conference”, “For us, for us: African cultural production” and the international conference, organized by the Centro de Estudos Africanos do Porto, “The struggle of women in African cinema and the Middle East. – 2016”.
