Biography

Researcher in African Studies at the Centre of International Studies – University Institute of Lisbon and cultural producer, specialized in the areas of music and dance. PhD candidate in African Studies (ISCTE-IUL), MA in African Studies (ISCTE-IUL), BA in Ethnology and Anthropology of Culture (University of Warsaw), concluded National Conservatory of Music. She was a researcher at the Centre of African Studies, participated in the project “Organizations and Representation in the Informal Economy in the PALOP: experiences and perspectives” (REF: PTDC / AFR / 113992/2009). She carried out field work in Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe and Guinea-Bissau. Currently, the main areas of interest are African music, particularly the Santomean, Cape-Verdean, Angolan and Senegambian music, as well as the history, culture and sociocultural transformations of São Tomé and Príncipe. She is working on the doctoral thesis “Music in São Tomé and Príncipe from colonialism to independence”. Director and producer of the documentary “neither mine nor yours … it’s ours” (November 2016).

Investigadora em estudos africanos no Centro de Estudos Internacionais – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa e produtora cultural, especializada nas áreas de música e dança. Doutoranda em Estudos Africanos (ISCTE-IUL), mestre em Estudos Africanos (ISCTE-IUL), licenciada em Etnologia e Antropologia da Cultura (Universidade de Varsóvia), concluiu Conservatório Nacional de Música. Foi investigadora no Centro de Estudos Africanos, participou no projecto “Organizações e Representação na Economia Informal nos PALOP: experiências e perspetivas” (REF: PTDC/AFR/113992/2009). Realizou trabalho de terreno em Cabo Verde, São Tomé e Príncipe e na Guiné-Bissau. Actualmente tem como principais áreas de interesse a música africana, particularmente a música cabo-verdiana, santomense, angolana e da Senegâmbia, e ainda a história, a cultura e as transformações socioculturais de São Tomé e Príncipe. Está a redigir a tese de doutoramento “Música em São Tomé e Príncipe do colonialismo para independência”. Realizadora e produtora do documentário nem meu nem teu…é nosso (Novembro 2016).
